Another first for LAG, this time a bass from Brian Ristola. I have known Brian since he was knee high to……well, actually he as always been 6’5″ to me. He used to run my website – hey, he designed it!

And, he has been building basses a few years now. Not a first for LAG – I am truly knocked out my first experience with a “new” builder’s work. Kevin Robertson, Alex Watson, Pete Skjold  now Brian Ristola. Where does this talent come from?

This bass plays itself – effortless all over the neck. Right now the action is nice and low, how I like it.

The neck is 35″ scale, Maple with Bubinga runners and a Pau Ferro fretboard.

The body is actually Ash painted gloss piano black, nicely contrasting the striking Myrtle top.

The pickups are by Bartolini, and the preamp is the highly versatile Audere 4 band.

Right to left the controls are: Volume, Blend, Treble, Concentric hi / low Mids, Bass, Active / passive toggle, Z Mode toggle.
