Here are out two newest basses from Lefay , the Herr Schwarz (“Mr. Black”) and the Singer.
Same electronics on both basses , incredibly versatile and studio quiet – no hiss with the treble and passive tone both cranked , and yes there is a definite bite.
These two basses are very close in tone and response. I hear a little more grind and raspiness in the Herr Schwazz, which makes perfect since given the Ash body and bolt on neck.
The surprise, to me , is how close the Singer is in response and dynamics , but a bit smoother in the mids and between notes , set neck mahogany body accounts for those characteristics.
LeFay basses are remarkable, ISYN. Check out their website.
