Description
This is a handmade bass from Germany , made by Andy Schack. There used to be a music store here in the Chicago area called the Sound Post. This store was owned by Fritz, a native of Germany who transplanted to Chicago.
Anyway, the point is, Fritz imported these basses for 10 years or so, but never sought national exposure or distribution. So, bass cats in Chicago, but few elsewhere, are aware of these basses and the high quality that they demonstrate.
I like to think I know a good bass when I play one , and I can tell you that this bass is VERY GOOD.
34″ scale Maple neck with a thick slab of Macassar Ebony for the fretboard.
The body looks like Bubinga , and has a gloss finish. The neck is bolted on – but how?? (take 10% off if you know the answer).
Pickups and preamp are by BassTech, a German maker of high quality electronics. The pre is Volume, Blend, and semi-parametric 3 band EQ.Yes, each band uses a concentric knob, with the top section being cut and boost with center click; the bottom knob is the frequency sweep.
