This bass is in better shape than some of my 37 year old acquaintances.  ( That’s on them )

Note the two piece pick guard – this was done for a few years in the early ’80’s. Why did they go to this design, why did they go back to the original design ? Can anyone shed some light on this matter ?

Suffice it to say that the truss rods are indeed functioning as designed, the neck is straight , and the bass plays wonderfully well.
