Description
This bass was made for Al “The Burner” Turner, long time bassist for Earl Klugh, back in 1997. I think Fender had hopes of luring Al away from his Ken Smith endorsement. Al stuck with Smith, this bass was stuck in the closet and is in 99%. mint condition.
This bass has a Custom Shop decal on the back of the headstock that is unlike the current CS decal. No serial number on the back plate, only in the neck pocket.
The word from Reggie Hamilton is that back in ’97, if there is a CS decal but no serial number on the back plate, then what you have is a MasterBuilt instrument. I am no Fender expert, but I do believe what I have been told.
Some unusual features on this bass
- Bad Ass Bridge
- See-Thru Candy Apple Red finish
- Neck Thru Stringing option
- 4 String JB body, a little more compact than a normal Fender 5er.
- Fender Noiseless pickups
- 3 band Active EQ
