Here we have a pair of 34″ scale six string basses from France and Japan.
On the left is the “Alys” model by US newcomer Matthieu Combe. His is a one man operation in rural France. Luthiers Access Group is pleased to be able to welcome Matthieu. He is very good. One to follow in years to come. You heard it here.
On the right is a $6,666 Ibanez. I kid you not , this is the GVB 10006 Gerald Veasley Signature Ibanez Japan Custom Shop bass – true story. Mr Veasley likes operating in tight quarters, so his bass has 14mm string spacing at the bridge – leave your cave man chops at home. Bottom line – incredible instrument – major kudos to those who made this bass.
