About the Builder Ken Lawrence has been building basses since 1981,at which time he went to work for Moonstone Guitars. Remember them ? Probably the first time I saw burled woods used on bass and guitars. After 5 years at Moonstone, Ken founded Lawrence Instruments in 1986. Only making 20-25 basses a year, Ken supplements his income as an active live and studio bassist. He is certain that his extensive gigging has helped enable him to come close in his quest for the perfect bass. "It has been my passion for more than half my life to create the ultimate in bass guitars. I have been and continue to be inspired by the wonderful instruments of Leo Fender,Vinnie Fodera, Michael Tobias, Alembic...and I have set very high standards for myself.
